Expand Your Horizons: A DIY Project
Install low-profile stainless steel balusters on decks, balconies and stairs. You’ll see life in a different way.
Greenfield, WI —Property owners looking to improve their view, reduce yearly maintenance and upgrade their homes with a clean, contemporary look have a new option besides the standard wood balusters, glass panels or cable railings. The StratoSpindle easily allows do-it-yourselfers to install stainless steel balusters on existing decks, balconies and stairs (indoors and out). The result? A tableau that can’t be beat. That’s because the 1/8” thin StratoSpindles provide a nearly unobstructed view.
“In 2015, we designed the StratoSpindle for use in our Wisconsin lake home. Due to the comments and questions we received, it quickly became clear that other home owners were interested in our product,” says Dan Sims, Steel Spindles LLC co-owner.
Sims adds that the StratoSpindles are the “easiest product in the marketplace to install.” In other words, a one-person DIY project. Each spindle simply snaps into place to the next and is held with one hand while drilling in cabinet screws with the other. If spindles are being installed to an elevated deck, it’s not necessary to use a ladder and there’s no reason to risk leaning over while installing.
Also, when attaching the StratoSpindles to an incline—as with steps— the flange can be bent by hand to whatever angle is needed.
Sims recommends the StratoSpindles for other areas around the home, too, such as patios, stairways, balconies, pool decks, terraces, verandas, gates, borders and catwalks.
